So… What is Freemasonry? I attended a talk recently by a Brother from Queensland, Greg Goding, where he said, what every Mason would agree. “Ask 100 Masons what Freemasonry means to them, and you will receive 100 different answers!”
Most Masons try to go in depth about Charity… To me, Freemasonry is just awesome! I’ve met people I wouldn’t meet in my day to day life, made some fantastic friendships that will be with me to the day I die. I’ve learn the true value of community and I am continuing to learn how to communicate with people from all walks of life. I’ve learn to say that while I am not perfect, I will continue to strive to better myself so that I can be a pillar that my fiancee, family, community and hopefully state, country and the world can be proud of.
Below is a brief snapshot of my “career” within the Craft. Happy to assist anyone interested in joining Freemasonry… There are 3 main requirements though…
- You need to be over the age of 18 (and a Male in Australia)
- You cannot have a criminal background (speeding fines are ok, murder is not!)
- You need to believe in a higher power, be that God, Allah, Buddah etc.
I was initiated to the Lodge of Australia #3 in March 2008 as part of the Membership Assistance Scheme (MAS).
I was passed to the 2nd or Fellowcraft Degree in November 2008 at a Disctrict meeting held by Lodge Balgowlah.
