Recruitment, Talent Sourcing, @NRL_Bulldogs and random thoughts…

So… What is Freemasonry? I attended a talk recently by a Brother from Queensland, Greg Goding, where he said, what every Mason would agree. “Ask 100 Masons what Freemasonry means to them, and you will receive 100 different answers!”

Most Masons try to go in depth about Charity… To me, Freemasonry is just awesome! I’ve met people I wouldn’t meet in my day to day life, made some fantastic friendships that will be with me to the day I die. I’ve learn the true value of community and I am continuing to learn how to communicate with people from all walks of life. I’ve learn to say that while I am not perfect, I will continue to strive to better myself so that I can be a pillar that my fiancee, family, community and hopefully state, country and the world can be proud of.

Below is a brief snapshot of my “career” within the Craft. Happy to assist anyone interested in joining Freemasonry… There are 3 main requirements though…

  1. You need to be over the age of 18 (and a Male in Australia)
  2. You cannot have a criminal background (speeding fines are ok, murder is not!)
  3. You need to believe in a higher power, be that God, Allah, Buddah etc.

I was elected Membership Officer for this Lodge and put together a Membership process to ensure that all prospective candidates were well informed of the status of their application.

I joined The Lodge of Tranquillity as it fit 3 criteria for my lifestyle… It is a laid back Lodge, with guys that don’t take themselves too seriously, it meets 3km’s from my house, on Bondi Road, Bondi, and I was given the opportunity to assist the Lodge in the position of a Principal Officer.

The Lodge of Tranquillity #42 is 150+ years old, and one of our most famous former members is Quong Tart a Chinese migrant to Australia who setup the tea rooms in Sydney’s QVB.
